Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Islandia is a Miami-based print magazine and publishing venture. Our goal is to create a vehicle for paying local writers and artists. When we say "local", this means writers and visual artists based in Florida and the Caribbean, a region we refer to as Islandia. Thematically, our focus is on stories and images that deal directly with myth, folklore, history, ecology, and the paranormal. It is our theory that by reexamining the region's past through a fresh lens, we can drum up those events and characters that have been overlooked or misunderstood.
