Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Housed at the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages at Stanford University, Mantis seeks out the work of talented poets, translators and critics from around the world. Founded in 2000, for over 20 years Mantis has published a yearly print journal, run entirely by the graduate students of various national literature departments. While our disciplines may differ, we all bring our love for poetry and passion for translation to each and every issue.
