Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Pacific Northwest Gothic is a literary journal devoted to the eerie, atmospheric, and uncanny dimensions of the Pacific Northwest. We publish fiction, poetry, art, and essays that explore the region’s shadowed forests, coastal fog, urban isolation, and the quiet unease that lingers beneath its natural beauty. Our work leans into the gothic in both traditional and evolving forms—stories of decay, transformation, solitude, and the supernatural, grounded in place. We are especially interested in voices that engage with the cultural, ecological, and emotional landscapes of the region, revealing what is strange, haunted, or hidden within the familiar. We publish monthly flash fiction online and an annual print issue. We only accept submissions from current or past residents of the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and British Columbia).
