Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Porphyry Press is an award-winning literary publishing company based in McCarthy, Alaska, in the heart of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. After four very different nonfiction titles, we look forward to announcing a forthcoming novel and some poetry soon, and more. We work to find books by diverse authors—books by women, BIPOC thinkers, rural people, and other marginalized voices. We collaborate with partners to serve readers and audiences with experiences and conversations that broaden the scope of any individual book. Aspiring to publish no more than two titles per year, we choose books carefully and then provide unusual amounts of support for our books and authors, from promotion to care in making the physical objects.
