How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
I founded and publish Posit.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
I am responsible for all decisions and tasks, but am aided in soliciting and screening submissions by my associate editor, Bernd Sauermann, and my arts editor, Melissa Stern. My web developer is Nathan Gwirtz.
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Short and sweet. We'd like to know the submitter's publication credentials.
How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
My associate editor and myself read and comment on all submissions and then arrive at a consensus decision.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Accomplishment and originality.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Don't submit work you suspect is not as good as it should be.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
I have discovered several hugely talented writers via their unsolicited submissions. It is a thrill every time!
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
An open-minded reader who is not afraid to confront text that is opaque, complex, or challenging.
