Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
In 2020 we moved from Hilo, Hawai'i to Ithaca, New York. We are seeking poetry and hybrid prose/poetry collections and collections of short stories or lyric essays. I’d like to see more poems that gather in with “long arms,” to borrow Ellen Bass’ description of Frank X. Gaspar’s work, and more somatic awareness, like Ire’ne Lara Silva’s Blood Sugar Canto. In 2020 we published Don Mitchell's memoir/true crime work, SHIBAI, and Marcia Meier's memoir, FACE. In 2021 we started a new imprint, Two Fine Crows Books, focusing on works of nature and spirit.

What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Intelligence. Sound. Rhythm. A sense of language. I'm not much interested in programmatic or issue-driven work.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
PLEASE send a clean, readable, copy-edited, grammatical, correctly spelled (not just spell-checked) manuscript. If you don't know the difference between "its" and "it's," hire a copy-editor who does.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
I am.
