Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
At The Dolomite Review, our mission is to bring readers the ultimate storytelling experience and to elevate emerging American voices—especially those rooted in or writing about the Midwest—through the publication of thoughtful, original fiction, poetry, and essays. We believe that the American interior holds a richness of perspective too often overlooked in mainstream literary culture. Our goal is to provide a platform for work that captures the quiet intensity, emotional depth, and cultural complexity of Midwestern life, while also welcoming writing that pushes beyond borders and conventions. By championing new writers and authentic regional storytelling, we aim to foster a literary community that values craft, curiosity, and the enduring power of place.

Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Cover letters are not necessary but make sure all of your pertinent information is included on the first page of your submission.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
We look for writing that stays with us -- that tells a story from start to finish. Even in poetry, we want characters and plot that moves and arcs like a traditional narrative.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Read our latest issue. Remember to follow the guidelines. Foremost, remember our audience: We publish for readers, so write for readers, not other writers. Give us a story that will stick in our head and characters we can relate to.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
We love discovering new writers. When we first read Grace Fabbri's submission, "Self-Portrait, Resting," we had no idea she had never been published because we don't read bios first. Quality is what hooks us, not bios full of publishing credits.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
Every reader is ideal! It is the publisher's job to create the ideal reader by curating work that is engaging and even addicting.
