Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Formed mentally in 2021 and virtually (as a mostly online literary magazine) in 2023, The Emeralite is for artists who create in the slanted light of street lamps, flashlights, and battery-powered candles. Whether you create in the ten minutes between shifts, in the parking lot after soccer practice, while waiting for the water to boil, on the bus to morning classes, or in between breaths, this space is for you. Located in Tkaranto (Toronto), Canada, The Emeralite welcomes creations from across the globe by anyone who feels they fit the criteria. We're excited to receive your Visual Art, Creative Non-Fiction, Essays, Fiction, and Poetry. If your work doesn't fit into one of these categories, The Emeralite is still interested! Our goal is to share your art with other after-sun artists, so while you work, we'll leave the light on.
