Publishing the winning entries – giving them their first publication airing internationally – is at the heart of the competition. This is an area that, at Board level, ESU Qld is looking to expand, with exploring developing partnerships with nationally acclaimed journals and publication outlets being part of its current brief for 2025. The organisation’s mission is to promote global understanding and human achievement through the shared use of the English language, to empower through communication, partner with like-minded organisations, and enrich human endeavour. The publication and promotion of the Roly Sussex Short Stories directly fits with all of these aspects. The competition is growing in popularity and entries nationally, with both divisions having more than tripled in their entry numbers in the past twelve months. ESU Qld is committed to continuing to explore and expand avenues for the publication and promotion of the Award’s winning writers.
