Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The Rove is a small press and learning collaborative dedicated to disruptive creativity. Our mission is to support critical literature and art, and to foster a sustainable, socially engaged community of diverse artists. We believe the best art moves us toward justice, and that everyone should have access to critical artwork and a creative life. We carry out our mission with three core projects: magazine and book publishing which guarantees fair pay for new and emerging writers and artists, and 50% royalties for authors; a public research series where our contributing artists co-host forums on creative practice, politics, and society; and a digital library of free resources for studying and organizing around creative praxis. Essential to our work is a dedication to those of us whose creativity is often pushed to the margins: workers, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, women, refugees, and anyone whose voice goes unheard in the dominant discourse. Together our creativity is a tool for reshaping the world.
