How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
I began working on The Southampton Review as an editorial assistant in 2014. I became managing editor in 2016 and Editor-in-Chief in August of 2018.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
I'm the only full-time staff member on TSR. Graduate students work on both issues of the review as editorial assistants. We have several volunteer readers. Amy Hempel is our fiction editor and Cornelius Eady is our poetry editor.
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Directing your salutation to the editor of your genre is always a good thing. If you're not sure who the editor is, addressing it to me, Emily, is a safe bet. Dear [First Name] is a fine way to do it.
