Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The Sun is an ad-free monthly magazine of essays, interviews, fiction, poetry, and photography. We strive to make it authentically intimate and socially conscious, to connect the personal to the political, and to illuminate enduring truths about the human condition. Our editorial focus is on work that is intimate and unflinching — the type of thing you might tell to a good friend; work that doesn’t shy away from grappling with the social and political issues that influence our lives.

The Sun welcomes submissions of essays, short stories, poems, and black-and-white photography to consider for publication in print and online in our monthly magazine. We publish first-time authors and award-winners alike, and we are particularly interested in submissions from marginalized voices. We request one-time rights to publish accepted submissions. All other rights revert to the author upon publication.
