Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Cover letters are optional, but if you send one, keep it short and do not introduce the poems.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
I look for whatever may lift the top of my head off or otherwise make me laugh, reflect, see a bit the world anew.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Assemble your submission into a single document, each poem beginning on a new page of the one document. Then submit. And be realistic about your chances; it is a competitive market. Better the surprised pessimist than the disappointed optimist.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
The ideal reader of Theodate is like the ideal audience member at the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival: the educated, poetry-loving nonspecialist. Though we would like to think that a generous, educated specialist would also enjoy a visit.
