Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Unbordered is new magazine by and for the American emigrant. As the far right rises in the United States, more and more of us are being pushed to leave. Unbordered is a space for those of us who’ve crossed borders, left home, and found ourselves redefined by distance. We look to publish art, essays, poetry, and political commentary that explore, and help the world reimagine, what it means to be an American living abroad in this current political moment. We hope that in 10, 20, or 50 years, this magazine can serve as a record for what American emigrants were thinking, feeling, mourning, celebrating, and creating. We operate as both an issue based magazine, available in flip-book form, and on Substack where essays, art, and poems are published individually. Our subscriptions are managed through Substack. You can find us there at unbordered.substack.com.
