Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Please use Grammarly. If you like bullet points, then okay. So as long as I can hear what you have to say. I want to be fascinated by you.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Something elegant. If you've seen it in the Paris Review or on Instagram's "Poetry is Not a Luxury," then please do. We also like that Mary Oliver. We miss her.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
I want you to write from your heart and write poetry that is good. Something--that when read out loud--makes you go, "yes," "ummmm, good" and whatever you hear at poetry readings...including the finger snaps.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
Visual Liquid is trying to establish itself. Common.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
Remember Utne Reader? Okay, that. And people who read the Economist but like poetry/art/photography. People who like edgy publications. My ideal reader is my therapist.
