Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The Wells College Press was founded in 1939 by type designer and printer Victor Hammer. The Wells College Press was re-established by the Wells Book Arts Center in 1993 to continue Hammer’s tradition of fine printing in the humanities. With a focus on letterpress printing, hand binding, and artist books, Wells College Press runs an annual chapbook contest, judged by poet and educator Dan Rosenberg, alongside producing creative broadsides throughout the year.
