Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
WTAW Press is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit publisher devoted to discovering and publishing enduring literary works. We publish a carefully curated list of titles across a range of genres (literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, essay, and prose that falls somewhere in between), subject matter, and perspectives. We welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds. WTAW will offer the annual Kevin McIlvoy Book Prize for an unpublished book of prose beginning in fall of 2023. WTAW's imprint Betty publishes books by women for everyone. In addition to full-length books, WTAW Alcove Chapbook Series focuses on chapbooks of prose. Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Make sure to follow the guidelines that ask for specific information in the cover letter.
How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
All manuscripts are read anonymously by a screened and vetted diverse group of primary readers, all of whom remain anonymous to one another. In the case of contests, a group of outstanding authors serve as final judges.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Please take a look at the books WTAW publishes. We’re drawn to material that explores issues of contemporary significance on any theme or subject matter.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Make sure to follow all guidelines. Don't talk yourself out of submitting: our focus is on publishing the best manuscripts we can find. WTAW regularly publishes debut authors.
