The Zhagaram Literary Magazine is a youth-led publication aimed at publishing culturally-rooted literature and art. We want your myths, your unwritten histories, the stories whispered under the glow of little flames for centuries. We want your grandmother's silence, your mother's rage and you breaking generational curses. Tell us what the word for love is in your language, then tell us why it's so difficult for you to say it. Or how love spills easily from your heart when in your native language. Tell us what it means to be human and how your culture weaves its way into how you experience the human condition.

Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Don't overthink the cover letter too much! We just need a third-person bio and any content warnings if applicable. You can be as formal or informal as you want to be. We just want to know the person we're considering for publication
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
We want poems that tell us what it means to be human and how your culture weaves its way into how you experience the human condition. Multilingual work and poems inspired by historical and mythological tales are our favourite themes to publish.

Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
Our ideal reader is someone who chooses to visit historical museums, temples, and other places of heritage as and when they can. Someone who lives far from their homeland and trying to grasp on to any threads of culture they can land their hands on.
