    the secret of salt is a bi-annual collection of fiction, poetry, essays, interviews & images inspired by the unique environment of the Florida keys & Key West. The journal explores a new theme with each issue and encourages thoughtful artistic expression. We celebrate our diverse island community... artists, writers, healers, fishermen, sailors, dreamers... and are grateful for the opportunity to live in a place where we can really be ourselves.

    We look for quality submissions that resonate with the intention of 'the secret of salt' and the current theme. Art & poetry, fiction & non-fiction, articles & essays ... all are included among our pages. Writers: Please send your previously unpublished work to us either via email or snail mail (provided your work is clearly typed and not your only copy). Send 3-5 poems, short stories, articles, essays, and other works of 2,500 words or less (though we are flexible if need be).
