River River Writers Circle serves the creative writing community of the lower Hudson Valley and beyond. Our mission is to support and encourage literary artists through free social events, weekly writers’ groups, open mic readings, and workshops, with opportunities to participate in River River's biannual, literary journal. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in New York.

Our focus is to inspire our local writing community by publishing a beautiful, diverse, and international online journal.
We accept submissions of poems, stories, creative nonfiction, translations, and photography. Simultaneous submissions are fine, and please submit just once per reading period per genre. We acquire first publication rights.
Please submit no more than 5 poems per reading period, and upload all poems in a single file (.doc, .docx, .pdf). If one or more of your poems (not the whole set) is accepted elsewhere, please write us a note on Submittable.
Please submit stories and creative nonfiction under 5,000 words. If you have a longer submission that you think would work for our journal, please query us first: type “Query” in the Title field on the Submittable form and upload your query letter as a submission. Our limit for flash pieces is 3 per submission. Upload these in a single file (.doc, .docx, .pdf). If one or more of your flashes (not the whole set) is accepted elsewhere, please write us a note on Submittable.
We welcome translations of poetry and short prose. Please adhere to the guidelines for the genre listed above, and include the piece in its original language with proof that you own the rights to publish a translation.
