  • Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
1701 Press is committed to publishing high-quality, well-designed non-fiction books about popular culture, and fiction books that capture something of the flickering light of humanity and the music of language. We are enthusiastic, lifelong book lovers. Our interaction with culture is a continuous dialogue and 1701 Press is dedicated to publishing entertaining and provocative books that expand and enrich that dialogue. Coming in 2018, we plan to begin publishing a monthly mini-chapbook of short fiction, prose poetry and experimental comics called 'is this up', which seeks to publish writing that is joyfully experimental, artificial, transgressive, restlessly inventive, searching and wild.
