Until we reach our monthly cap with Submittable, submissions are free; after we hit the cap, a $3 submission fee is charged to defray administrative costs. We welcome prose submissions of up to 8,000 words, poem packets of up to five poems, and comics of up to 15 pages. Excerpts from longer works (e.g., novels, graphic novels) should be self-contained. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, provided we are notified immediately if a piece is accepted elsewhere. When submitting a translation, we ask submitters to include a copy of the original and to let us know whether they have secured permission from the original copyright holder. We currently pay $20 per printed page (capped at $250) plus two copies of the journal.
