What we’re not looking for: Middle Grade, Picture Books, and Erotica. While we try and be as open as possible, these categories are not our strongest. Books with violence described in detail, such as sexual violence, rape, and abuse, will also not be considered. What we’re in the mood for right now: Psychological thrillers, domestic noir, domestic thrillers. Lush settings and unreliable narrators. We’d also really love to add some poetry collections to our catalog. What to do: With Query: TITLE in the subject, e-mail your query and first chapter pasted in the body of the e-mail to nicole@magnolia.press. If you’re querying a poetry collection, please send the first 10 poems in lieu of first chapter. Attachments will not be opened and failure to follow submission instructions will result in an automatic rejection. What’s Next? If we’re interested in your full manuscript, you will hear back about your query within four weeks. If you don’t hear back, it’s safe to assume we’ve passed on your project at this time. However, we encourage you to query us with future projects! Just because one project isn’t right for us doesn’t mean future projects won’t be.
