Tolsun publishes daring, energetic books that use separate parts to construct a whole: poetry, short stories, comics poetry, hybrids, photo stories, flash memoir, and more. We treasure creativity, and so we may not know we love something until we see it. Art, like the jackalope, cannot be constrained by classification or form. At Tolsun, the importance of aesthetic and design is paramount: A Tolsun Book will look and feel beautiful on your bookshelf, coffee table, or nightstand. Go ahead, judge our books by their covers! We believe in the cosmic power of strong relationships with authors, artists, partners, and the community. Our authors and staff have become our family. The Tolsun Family is an incredible group of humans that support each other in ways we could never have believed when we first made the decision to start a press. Tolsun Publishing proudly practices stewardship in the literary community by publishing debut and experienced authors with diverse backgrounds, licensing artwork from working artists and designers, tabling at bookfairs, presenting at literary conferences, and hosting readings.

  • Submissions policy
We have open submission periods yearly. We do charge a fee for these submissions, but we accept submissions without a fee on certain days during the open period. Our only guideline for submissions is that we only take books that are made from parts. We do not accept novels, full-length memoir, or single, long poems. We held a chapbook contest this year with submissions open to anyone who did not know our judge. Sometimes, we accept unsolicited submissions outside of our reading periods, if the submission is recommended to us by a peer.
